First, despite Abraham’s sin (twice!) and Isaac’s sin in pretending that their wives were their sisters, the Lord intervenes in each case in order to preserve Sarah and Rebekah. Abraham and Isaac are rebuked by pagan kings, and their actions demonstrate fear rather than faith, but the Lord is gracious, so that no harm comes about that would threaten God’s promises to Abraham and Isaac concerning their descendants. That is undeserved grace, to be sure! Although the gender pay gap is narrowing, it’s still very real. And despite more women earning university degrees today, the expectation of men as breadwinners still influences individuals’ attitudes about what is an acceptable match. When planning a date night, keep in mind that you and your spouse may see romance a bit different. Generally, men like to be more active while women prefer talking and relational activities. Try to incorporate both into date night. It may be challenging, but embrace it and be creative!
