Imagine your life is a heat-seeking missile. You have a target, that you are hurtling towards at speed. That’s all you care about – hitting that target. Every now and then you compare where you are in your trajectory with where you should be, and if you are heading off-course, you make a slight correction. This happens continuously until, BOOM, you hit your target.
You are the missile. Your mind is the guidance system. Your body the propulsion system. Your subconscious mind course corrects without any manual intervention. This is psycho-cybernetics.

As silly as this example may seem. We all have this built-in guidance system in our own minds and bodies. We have the equivalent of heat-seeking missile technology, given to us by the nature of being human.
This is essentially the concept behind psycho-cybernetics: we move towards what we focus on.
It seems simple, but behind the simple concept lies much power.
Willpower is a myth
People say you need willpower if you want to achieve something in your life. You need to struggle against yourself and overcome your innate want to just sit on your ass and do nothing all day.
This is a fallacy. You don’t need willpower. You just need to program your guidance system with the right goal.
Athletes have known this for years. They visualise winning the race before it even starts. Studies have been done where a basketball team didn’t do any actual free-throw practice, they just sat in their changing room and imagined themselves throwing perfect free-throws. They improved as much as a team that practiced solidly.
The imagination is a powerful thing. Our bodies cannot tell the difference between it and reality, and that’s kind of the point.
You don’t need to force changes to happen in your life. You don’t need to constantly battle with yourself. By choosing a goal that inspires you, and visualising its successful achievement, you will do things effortlessly and willingly. In fact, you’ll find things happening almost by accident, as if moved by some unseen force.
That unseen force is your internal guidance system in full effect.
